Making Some Pots

Last night I worked on throwing porcelain cups and Bruce worked on throwing red clay bottles. I really enjoyed playing around with the leaf texture molds I made last year. I found the basket of them under some piles in our old studio. I have been doing this crescent moon texture on my cups recently, and thought adding the leaf pattern will give more places for the glaze to pool.

Bruce throwing his bottle.
We are enjoying our new space. Bruce has set up a throwing station for red clay. This is somewhat temporary until we get a feel for our space and how we want to organize the room for us together. Organization takes time, patience, and lots of practice and is a skill we want to develop.
Here are some pieces that I have been throwing this week: vases and mushroom jars.

Looks good! And you have lots of space to decide on, well not as much as used to be (!!) but still, lots of room to work it out. Lucky you guys, with all that space! What wonderful things we all will be seeing from now on!

I think organization also takes self restraint. I'm always jumping to the next project, or step toward finishing something, before putting things away. But I've spent the past few days in extreme disorganization, looking for tools every 15 minutes and getting so frustrated. I'm thinking of having my pottery tools attached to retracting strings, so I can let them go after using them, and they'll snap back into place.

Yes we are right there with you Michael. Bruce is always looking for his tools. Tape measure?? Where did that go? Even when we buy an extra that one goes missing too. Maybe if we find a good organization solution we can share it?

@Jennie We are excited about our space! We bought 2 18" hard plastic carts on wheels for our pottery tools to go from space to space.
