Daffie Days and the Celebration of Spring Seagrove Potters Kiln Openings On Same Weekend

Bulldog Pottery:Gholson and Henneke - Spring Kiln Opening, Seagrove, North Carolina

Lots of Celebrating going on!

We are preparing for our Spring Kiln Opening "Daffie Days"- Celebrating the Vase and the Ubiquitous Daffodil. This year we moved the date a little further into the month of April. This year we will have our annual spring kiln opening on the same weekend as the "Celebration of Spring, Seagrove Potters Spring Kiln Openings". This year around 40 Seagrove Potteries will be participating.

We had a fabulous North Carolina Potters Conference in Asheboro, NC.  The Randolph Arts Guild did a bang up job of putting it on, hosting potters from Japan and 175 conference attendees! We learned many techniques during the four days of conference, and it included a Japanese Tea Ceremony by Peter Hamann.  We would love to share some images with you from the Conference in a future post.

We are also busy planning for this year's 7th annual "Cousins in Clay" on May 30-31, 2015.  Make plans and save the date! We will be hosting wonderful potters this year, Bill Brouillard from Cleveland, Ohio, Adam Field from Helena, Montana, Doug Peltzman from New Paltz, New York, Henry Crissman from Alfred, New York, and Micheal Kline from Bakersville, North Carolina.  You can follow along on our "Cousins in Clay" Facebook page.

On April 18-19, 2015 - the Seagrove Area Potters Association hosts the Celebration of Spring Seagrove Potters Kiln Openings. SAPA is made up of hard working volunteers to help bring together the Seagrove Pottery community.  A big thank you goes out to all of them that put this weekend together for all of us to join in.  Different events will be going on at the individual Seagrove Potteries for the pottery lover.  The spring event is different from the fall event in that it takes place at the individual potteries. This is a great opportunity for the visitors to see where we live and make our work. We are open to the public throughout the year, with a few potters only open for their individual kiln openings. You can find out more information at our Discover Seagrove Pottery website.
