A little Peak

Maxwell and Bruce taking a peak at the results of the firing.
We are slowly unbricking the door, to let the hot air out. Stay Tuned for the "After" picture later today.

Play Ball!

We are in our last day of throwing. Maxwell has just about had it. All work for Bruce and Samantha makes us very dull companions.  Maxwell is letting Bruce know that he needs his time too!

Red Ball Tested - Pottery Flask Passes

We are gearing up for the upcoming Seagrove Potters' event that takes place this November 18-20, 2011. We have selected one of Bruce's flask forms for the silent auction that will take place on Saturday afternoon at the "Celebration of Seagrove Potters".  The Celebration takes place at the Luck's Historic Cannery with around 60 Seagrove Potteries partcipating.  This is a special weekend for us when we all convene under one roof to sell our pottery together.  Usually we are at home working on our pots and greeting customers at our individual studios.  Hope you can make it that weekend, but hey you can come out to see us anytime of the year!

We have started a Celebration of Seagrove Potters facebook page where we are currently posting images of the collaborations that we are working on together.

Also there is a new Seagrove Potters facebook page. You can follow along with us as we post images of our process and the work that we are making.

Maxwell wanted to give the pottery flask a once over!  Make sure the piece is red ball approved!

Happy Holidays 2010 from Bulldog Pottery

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! We had such a wonderful 2010 and we are so grateful for the lives that we live. Much of our happiness and success has to do with you, our faithful collectors. We are so incredibly lucky to be able to make our pottery, live our passion--- and express our creative selves. Thank you for allowing our works to be part of your lives on a daily basis.

The Bulldog country dance is a bit more focused on our you tube channel. You may want to watch it on there.
Happy Holidays from Bruce, Samantha, Gloria, Ed, and Maxwell!
Thank you!

Glazing-Sieving-Gardening-Playing

Glazing-Sieving-Gardening-Playing
All important ingredients to a fantastic and productive Sunday at Bulldog Pottery

Sieving and making batches of glazes is always one task that comes before every glaze cycle. We currently are using around 45 glazes, but we have had over 100 on our shelves. Glazes go in and out of favor for one reason or another, and we are always dreaming up new colors, and hoping for that one glaze that we have never seen before. Do you remember that song by Huey Lewis-- "I want a New Drug"? This is our theme song during days like today. Bruce and I sing this in the studio, but we sing "I want a new glaze".

Maxwell's job is an important one, and that is to keep a keen eye on his ball which at this moment has rolled under my chair.
Definitely in her element these days, Gloria has become one with the sunflower.

Garden May 24. Tomatoes are in, eggplants covered with row cloth and we are eating chard. Bruce picked shitakes off of our logs this morning. There is a stir fry in our future.

Tis the Season for Extra Scooby Snacks

Seasons Greetings from all of us at Bulldog to everyone out there in cyber space and beyond. We convinced Maxwell that he looks absolutely handsome in his Santa's hat. His Great Aunt Judy supplied him with the red and white hat for the holidays. He is not sure if he was very happy about this addition to his wardrobe, but felt that joining in the festivities is fun to do and worth the extra scooby snacks.

Maxwell and his New Red Ball

Early last week Maxwell dropped his favorite red ball in the pond.  Bruce tried his best to rake it out, but it was gone.  I quickly bee lined it to the closest store, and bought him another, but no, even though it was the same color red, it was not like his beloved red ball.  He made do, but voiced his opposition and disappointment.   The ball just did not bounce right or have the appropriate weight.  It smelled funny.  I went online to look for a red ball just like the one we purchased in Richmond.  Yes! I found a place to purchase one just like the red ball he dropped in the pond.  We proceeded to buy two.  They came in the mail today.  Maxwell is very well pleased.  We even tested him by throwing the other ball, by sly substitution.  But when he caught up to and grabbed it, he dropped it in disgust, and came back for the real McCoy.
