Carolina Designer Craftsmen Art Walk, Five Points, Raleigh, NC

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen are sponsoring an Art Walk in Five Points, Raleigh, NC. This weekend on May 2 from 10 am - 5 pm we will be in Raleigh with a selection of our work. Ed and Gloria will have our studio open here in Seagrove as well.

Our host for the studio tour is Lillian Jones (a jeweler/enamel), we will be at her home on her porch with Marina Bosetti (a tile maker), and a sister/brother team Addison Paige & Eric Paige (whimsical clock makers).

Layered Icicle Fountain Cake at Gary Spivey's Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast

We worked down in Star yesterday.  Bruce spotted Gary Spivey's water fountain lavishly iced in a white crystalline glaze.  I grabbed the camera when I went home to bring back lunch.  I wanted to document this unique sighting.  We don't usually see sights like this here in Star, the geographic center of North Carolina.  Gary erected this fountain last year with a rose garden surrounding it.  It stands in the yard on the side of his Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast.  

As Gary always says "More is More".  His fountain has now turned into a layered Icicle Fountain Cake.  Maybe he could do this for the next wedding that takes place at the Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast?

Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte: Lecture this Sunday

This book is about the Everson Museum Ceramics collection, Edited by Barbara Perry

We have been a member of the Mint Museum of Art for around 8 years.  Bruce and I discovered it a couple of years after moving to Seagrove in 1997.  We were attracted to the Mint and became a member because of its dedication to ceramics.  They have a wonderful collection of ceramics called the Delhom Collection.  There are lectures throughout the year that are free to Mint members or with admission to the museum.  These lectures are sponsored by the Delhom League.  We were excited to find out that this weekend Barbara Perry will be lecturing about Women in American Ceramics.  Since we are in denial of upcoming deadlines, we will attend.  We have three books in our library that Barbara Perry wrote.
